Busy Season is Over: Now What?
For those of you in the accounting industry, you just put another busy season behind you and chances are, you’ve put a few things off the last several months. That’s understandable! However, now is the time to get back on track.
Re-charge your Energy.
Busy season takes a toll on your time and energy. Spend time with family and friends. Grab breakfast or lunch with your child, spouse, or a friend. Do something you enjoy. Unplug, unwind from the stresses of the late nights and long days. Be good to yourself. Encourage your team to do the same.
Renew Healthy Habits.
Unfortunately, busy season also means an increased consumption of pizza, burgers, soft drinks, coffee, and sugary snacks, as well as a decrease in exercise. Now is the time to renew healthy habits. Eat healthier. Drink more water. Exercise. Take a quick walk in the morning or evening. Challenge your team to adopt healthy habits.
Re-balance your Client List.
Review your client list and segment clients into categories. The Top 20% are those you’d like to clone – they value your expertise, pay promptly and you’d give anything for more clients just like them. Develop a plan to move the middle clients up a level (or two). Graduate the bottom 10% that are no longer a good fit — refer them to another firm that might be better equipped to serve them.
